NEW the AC1010 MonoWedge for Meade SCT’s up to 12” aperture.
To be launched at AstroFest 2010
At last, a wedge you can depend on at an affordable price!
The new AC1010 MonoWedge is a new design, featuring a unique monocoqular construction technique. This is the first time the monocoque concept has been used in the construction of a high-performance equatorial wedge for Schmidt Cassegrain Telescopes (SCT) and represents a genuine breakthrough of performance relative to price. The MonoWedge is expected to retail for under £200 pounds!
The MonoWedge is made of steel in the form of a fusion-welded monocoqular body shell. Like a modern car body - the structure is light but extremely rigid.
The structural skin or unibody formers (four in total) are made from 11 gauge steel. A complex of returns (bends and folds in the steel) and structural bosses are combined by fusion welding to create a structure that has impressive resistance to shear, compressive, and bending forces.
The first available versions of the AC1010 MonoWedge is designed to be used with Meade SCT’s. It is suitable for use with the LX-90 up to and including 12” aperture and LX200 telescopes up to 10” aperture.
Ultra-rigid steel monocoqular construction
Made entirely in Britain by Astro Engineering
Lightweight (relative to existing AE, marque and competitor products)
Effective up to 12” aperture
Slow motion fine adjustment on altitude and azimuth
Tripod fitting kit and all necessary fasteners included
The Astro Engineering MonoWedge is available from the 5th of February and will make it’s debut at London’s European AstroFest 2010 in Kensington (5th – 6th February).
